Hiking in the Waldviertel

Your hiking experience on the Schwarz Alm

Enjoy a wonderful hiking holiday in the Waldviertel. Experience unforgettable hikes along the beautiful river landscapes of the Kamp, past picturesque palaces, castles and abbeys.

“Those who walk – see, hear, smell and feel more of the country!” This quote from photographer and passionate Waldviertel hiker Reinhard Mandl sums it up: hiking is the best way to get closer to the country and its people.

The Schwarz Alm Zwettl is definitely one of the best starting points for an unforgettable nature experience. In addition to marked circular hiking trails that start right outside the hotel, the hotel is also a great starting point for numerous hiking trails that lead right past the hotel.

Guided hikes

A special experience

Would you like to be whisked away by our local and certified hiking guides into the marvellous natural landscape of the Waldviertel?

Guided hikes take place twice a week and on request at any time, starting right outside the hotel. Of course, we are also happy to organise your personal and individual hike for you. According to your wishes. And if our boss spontaneously goes for a round of Nordic walking early in the morning, then you are of course welcome to accompany him. (once a week)

For further hiking dates, simply enquire by email. Our co-hosts at reception will be happy to help you.

The "finer points" for your hiking moment

The snack for in between

Enjoy our “Alm Jausnsackerl” on your hike, a small snack for in between. For all those who prefer something a little more substantial, we recommend our generously filled “Genuss-Picknickrucksack”, with all kinds of regional delicacies. (Pre-booking 1 day in advance required)

Tour advice incl. free hiking maps

Our local co-hosts at the hotel reception have the right tip for every hiker. “Tried and tested, it’s easier to recommend”.
All maps are available to our guests free of charge. You will also find an extensive range of hiking books, landscape, nature and cultural guides in the hotel library.

“Dirt away”

You can wash your hiking boots directly at the hotel car park. A shoe shine machine including brushes is waiting for you in the hotel entrance area.
A drying room and washing service are available free of charge so that you can continue your walk the next day with dry shoes and clean clothes.

As you can see, everything really is taken care of.
We would be delighted to welcome you to your next hiking holiday with us in the beautiful Waldviertel.
